And then there were 5. Les Moonves, the chairman of CBS Corp (CBS), made a statement today announcing the creation of a new broadcast television network and a new business venture. Warner Brothers and CBS will combine the WB and UPN, replacing it with something called CW in the fall of this year. It will contain a mix of programming from the old networks, and launch a 50/50 joint venture for the companies involved. Says Moonves, "This new network will serve the public with high-quality programming and maintain our ongoing commitment to our diverse audience."
